Maldive Republic Builds Military Drone Base with Turkish Drones, Raising Concerns over Ocean Surveillance

The Maldivian Republic has begun the construction of a base for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on Maafaru Island, in order to utilize military drones imported from Turkey for monitoring the oceanic territories of the Maldivian islands. This information was reported by the news portal The Edition.

According to journalists, the base is being established in the north of Maafaru, near the international airport. It is also noted that a portion of the Maldivian military is currently undergoing training in Turkey on the use of drones.

No official information has been provided by the authorities regarding the project at this time.

Prior to this, the CEO of the Turkish company Baykar, Haluk Bayraktar, announced the commencement of construction on a factory near Kyiv, where unmanned aerial vehicles will be produced.

It was also reported that the second successful testing of the Bayraktar TB3 strike drone took place in Turkey.
