Pro-Palestinian Protester Charges Stage During DC Mayor’s Speech at Art Festival
A pro-Palestinian protester caused a disturbance during an art festival in Washington, D.C., on Friday morning, rushing the stage as Mayor Muriel Bowser was speaking. The incident occurred during the announcement of Aromatic’s weekend community art exhibit on M Street. Video footage captured the moment when two demonstrators charged at the stage, with one woman managing to reach the podium carrying a “DC 4 CEASEFIRE” sign before being swiftly removed by security.
As the protester charged towards her, Mayor Bowser exclaimed, “Oh, here we go. Thank you. Whoa, whoa, whoa.” The individual came within feet of the mayor’s microphone before being stopped by security. While being led away, the protester shouted, “D.C. artists against apartheid,” as seen in video footage obtained by FOX 5 DC. Despite the interruption, Bowser remained at the podium and later returned to the stage to continue her speech, choosing not to address the incident directly.
No injuries were reported, and it remains unclear how many protesters were present at the event. However, this disruptive incident follows a similar attempt by pro-Palestinian protesters to disrupt President Biden’s State of the Union address the previous night. Approximately 100 protesters gathered outside the halls of Congress, holding signs that read, “Biden’s legacy is genocide.” Photos from the scene showed demonstrators, many wearing face masks, blocking the street.
These protests reflect a growing discontent on the left with President Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict. Activists are demanding an end to U.S. military aid to Israel as civilian casualties mount in Gaza. Recent polling indicates a 17-point increase in support for Palestinians among Democrats since October, leading to a more divided stance within the party. Currently, 43% of Democrats side with Israelis, while 42% side with Palestinians, compared to 59% and 25% respectively in October.
This shift in sentiment aligns with the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel five months ago, where 1,200 lives were lost, and over 200 individuals were taken hostage. In retaliation, Israel launched an offensive in Gaza, targeting Hamas infrastructure with the goal of eradicating the terrorist group. However, thousands of Palestinian civilians have unfortunately been caught in the crossfire.

Republicans, former President Trump, and Governor Ron DeSantis have been supportive of Israel’s actions and have taken a strong stand against terrorism.
