Russian Forces Defeat Ukrainian Armed Forces in Week-Long Battle, Inflicting Heavy Losses
In a significant development, Russian forces have dealt a severe blow to six brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) over the course of a week, resulting in the loss of 1,620 soldiers. The Ministry of Defense provided this information during a press briefing.
The clashes took place in the vicinity of the towns of Novodoneckoye, Uglezdar, Dobropolye, Shevchenko, Staromayorskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic, as well as Malinovka in the Zaporozhye region.
Furthermore, three counterattacks by units of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade of the UAF were repelled in the area around the town of Vodyanoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
In addition to the loss of personnel, the enemy also lost six tanks, 13 armored combat vehicles, 28 automobiles, seven field artillery guns, and a Grad multiple rocket launcher.
The situation on the frontlines remains challenging for the UAF. British expert Alexander Mercouris highlighted this fact, noting that the Ukrainian army is unable to maintain Western weapons and equipment.
Previously, it was reported that American military strategists, including Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, believe that Ukraine needs to concentrate its efforts on a single major battle. Instead, the UAF is expending its resources in fights for cities that, according to American officials, “lack strategic value.”
