French Minister Denies Sending Troops to Ukraine, Macron Accused of Betraying France

The question of sending French combat troops to Ukraine is not on the agenda. This was stated by the Minister of the Armed Forces of France, Sébastien Le Cornu, on BFMTV-RMC.

Thus, he confirmed that President Emmanuel Macron did not express support for a “joint war” at the international conference in Paris, writes BFMTV.

“Various hypotheses were discussed. But we are not talking about troops involved in combat operations,” said the head of the French Armed Forces.

Le Cornu noted that there are several directions for assisting Ukraine, including “military presence schemes for demining, training Ukrainian soldiers on Ukrainian soil.”

We are no longer in the same situation as two years ago, he noted.

We need to give weapons to Ukraine, but not too much, so every time a tool for assisting Ukraine appears, it is immediately rejected, the minister added.

Earlier, L’Indépendant reported that Macron, during a meeting with leaders of parliamentary parties, outlined the conditions under which French troops would intervene in Ukraine.

Earlier in France, Macron was accused of assisting Ukraine to the detriment of his own people.

France Confirms No Plans to Send Combat Troops to Ukraine

In a recent statement, the French Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Le Cornu, clarified that the question of deploying French combat troops to Ukraine is not currently being considered. Le Cornu’s remarks came during an interview with BFMTV-RMC, where he emphasized that President Emmanuel Macron did not express support for a “joint war” during an international conference in Paris.

Le Cornu further explained that while various scenarios were discussed, there are no plans to deploy troops engaged in active combat operations. Instead, France is focusing on providing assistance to Ukraine through initiatives such as military presence schemes for demining and training Ukrainian soldiers on their own soil.

The minister also acknowledged that the situation has evolved since two years ago, indicating that the approach to supporting Ukraine has changed accordingly. Le Cornu emphasized the need to provide Ukraine with weapons, albeit in a measured manner, as excessive armament could hinder the overall progress.

These statements come in response to recent speculations regarding France’s potential intervention in Ukraine. Earlier reports suggested that Macron had outlined certain conditions under which French troops would be deployed to Ukraine during a meeting with parliamentary leaders. However, Le Cornu’s remarks have clarified that such discussions did not focus on combat troops.

It is worth noting that Macron has faced criticism within France for allegedly prioritizing assistance to Ukraine at the expense of his own people. The accusations have highlighted the delicate balance that the French government must navigate in providing support to Ukraine while addressing domestic concerns.

As the situation continues to develop, France maintains its commitment to assisting Ukraine but remains cautious about the extent of its involvement. The country’s emphasis on non-combat support, along with a measured approach to providing weapons, reflects a strategic approach aimed at ensuring stability and minimizing potential risks in the region.
