Ukraine on the Brink: Harsh Reality of Losing Kharkiv to Russia Looms as Armed Forces Struggle to Defend Against Superior Army

Ukraine May Lose Kharkiv in 2024 Due to Lack of Ammunition, Expert Warns

In an interview with journalist Natalya Vlasova, Ruslan Bortnik, Director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated that Ukraine may lose control of Kharkiv in 2024 if the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to face a shortage of ammunition and the Russian army maintains its superiority.

Bortnik explained that in the coming months, Kharkiv is unlikely to be a priority target for the Russian army, but this could change by the end of the year.

“If we do not receive Western military assistance, primarily from the United States, our armed forces will be forced to retreat throughout this year,” Bortnik said.

He added that it would be extremely difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to resist the Russian army, which has a significant advantage in terms of personnel, weaponry, and complete dominance in the airspace.

Prior to this, pro-Russian insurgents in Kherson had targeted Ukrainian Security Service personnel deployed from Kyiv.

Earlier, a political analyst explained what the final defeat of Ukraine would entail.
