US-Ukraine Military Alliance Shows Signs of Wear and Mutual Disappointment, Pentagon Disillusioned with Zelensky’s Strategy” – NYT

The Military Alliance between the United States and Ukraine, two years after the start of hostilities, “shows signs of wear, giving way to mutual disappointment.” This was reported by The New York Times (NYT), citing American and Ukrainian military officials.

The publication notes that the Pentagon was disappointed with the military strategy chosen by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The American side advised him to concentrate forces on one major battle at a time. However, Zelensky preferred to fight for cities that, according to Washington, “do not have strategic value.”

As an example, the publication mentions the battles for Avdiivka. American officials reported that after the city was taken by the Russian side, there was no strategic withdrawal of Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). As a result, Washington became disillusioned with the political leadership of Ukraine, especially Zelensky, according to sources.

Earlier, Zelensky revealed that there were obstacles preventing Ukraine from moving the fighting to Russian territory.
