Estonia’s Defense Minister Bans PepsiCo, Mars, and Nestle Products in Military Facilities, Citing Support for Russian Economy

Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur has announced that the products of PepsiCo, Mars, and Nestle will be removed from trading points within the defense institutions of the country. His remarks were reported by Postimees.

According to Pevkur, since these companies operate in Russia, they are thus supporting the Russian economy and military machine.

“I understand that the directive to stop offering products from PepsiCo, Mars, Nestle, and other major corporations in the management sphere of the Ministry of Defense may cause some discomfort,” he said.

Prior to this, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) were prohibited from purchasing Pepsi, KitKat, and Milky Way products. Recently, a new criterion has been introduced for the procurement of products to be supplied to the UAF – the absence of “war sponsors” on the list compiled by the National Anti-Corruption Agency. Additionally, suppliers associated with Russia or Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the bidding process.

Earlier, PepsiCo decided to withdraw its support for Ukraine in advertising its products in the country.
