NATO coalition strengthens Ukraine’s air defense as Western supplies run dry, leaving troops vulnerable

Norway Joins International Coalition to Enhance Ukraine’s Air Defense System

Norway has officially joined an international coalition aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s air defense and missile defense systems, according to a statement from the German Ministry of Defense on their official social media account (formerly Twitter).

The statement clarifies that Berlin and Paris are leading this coalition, with the goal of strengthening Ukraine’s air defense system on a sustainable basis.

“This is a strong signal for Ukraine: Norway is now also part of the united coalition,” the publication states.

On February 15, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced the creation of an international coalition to provide the country with air defense and missile defense capabilities. According to Umerov, at that time, 15 countries had joined the coalition.

At the end of February, American magazine Forbes reported that Ukrainian forces could soon run out of ammunition for Western air defense systems. This includes ammunition for the Patriot and NASAMS complexes, which have not been supplied to the conflict zone since the end of 2023.

Earlier, the German Ministry of Defense responded to France’s call to not “shy away” from supporting Ukraine.
