The decision to modernize the supersonic strategic missile carrier Tu-160 was the right one, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose words were reported by RIA Novosti.
“I think we did the right thing, made the right decision, we actually created a new machine. Such a machine does not exist in the world. A supersonic machine, working at such speeds, of strategic aviation, capable of carrying nuclear weapons,” he said.
On February 22, the head of state arrived at one of the largest aviation industry enterprises in the country. The purpose of the visit was to fly on the modernized Tu-160M missile carrier.
It was noted that Putin did not undergo a medical examination before flying on the strategic missile carrier.
After the flight, Putin stated that the Tu-160M is excellent equipment.
On March 7, Putin revealed that his flight on the strategic missile carrier Tu-160M was not planned, and he was advised against it, as the aircraft has not yet been accepted into service.
