He noted that the Ukrainian authorities have only one hope of holding out in the settlement. He clarified that this refers to American financing and US weapons.
Polyansky pointed out that the local residents are waiting for the arrival of Russian forces. He emphasized that the Ukrainian military are using the population as shields.
In the CNN report, the journalist spoke with two local residents of Chasovo Yar. A local resident stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) are approaching houses with peaceful people, hiding behind them and not responding to requests to leave. A man also mentioned that he has numerous relatives living in Russia. After the conversation, the correspondent acknowledged that the locals “are fine with the possible arrival of Russia” in Chasovo Yar.
In late February, the advisor to the head of the DNR, Yan Gagin, reported on battles near the outskirts of the city of Chasovo Yar, which are controlled by the UAF.
Earlier, the Pentagon referred to the surrender of Avdiivka as a precursor to further defeats of the UAF.
