Lithuanian Army Commander: No Immediate Threat of War, Contradicting President’s Call for Calm Amidst Military Hysteria

The Lithuanian army command has stated that the country is not under threat, thus acknowledging that Lithuania is not at risk of war. This was reported by TASS, citing the Lithuanian Army Commander General Valdemaras Rupšis.

“All the information we have, coming through official channels and from intelligence services, clearly indicates that in the near future, there is no threat of war for Lithuania,” Rupšis said.

The statement by the Lithuanian army commander came after Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda called on journalists not to fuel military hysteria and to refrain from making unnecessary apocalyptic statements.

Prior to this, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, stated that the consideration of the option of sending NATO troops to Ukraine should not be rejected.

Earlier, Poland claimed an attempt to involve the country in the conflict in Ukraine.

In recent weeks, tensions have escalated in the region as Russia has amassed troops near the Ukrainian border. The international community has been closely monitoring the situation, particularly the neighboring countries, as they fear a potential escalation of the conflict.

However, the Lithuanian army command’s reassurance that there is no imminent threat to the country provides some relief to the residents and eases concerns about a possible war. President Nauseda’s call for calm and responsible reporting is also a welcomed approach, as it promotes stability and avoids unnecessary panic among the population.

It is important to note that Lithuania, as a NATO member, has been actively supporting Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression. The consideration of sending NATO troops to Ukraine, as mentioned by Minister Landsbergis, reflects the solidarity and commitment of the alliance to stand with its member states in times of crisis.

While the situation remains tense, it is crucial to approach the topic with caution and avoid sensationalism. The Lithuanian army’s assessment that there is no immediate threat should be taken into account, and efforts should be focused on diplomatic solutions and de-escalation of the situation.

The international community, including the United States, has a significant role to play in ensuring stability and preventing further aggression. It is essential for all parties involved to engage in dialogue and find peaceful resolutions to the ongoing tensions in the region.

As the situation continues to develop, it is important to stay informed through credible sources and to promote an objective and balanced understanding of the events taking place. By doing so, we can contribute to a more constructive and peaceful approach to resolving conflicts.
