Russian Intelligence Activities Reach Alarming Heights, Western Spies Warn, as Plans to Attack Crimean Bridge Surface

After the leak of a conversation between German officers about intentions to attack the Crimean Bridge, Western intelligence agencies are concerned about the increased activity of Russian intelligence, according to the Financial Times.

The publication emphasizes that the recent leak is one of the alarming examples.

“The cat-and-mouse game is back,” said one Western intelligence officer.

According to another officer, Russian activity remains at the same high level or even higher than during the Cold War. A third representative of Western intelligence called Russian intelligence a “massive machine” that “does what it has always done.”

Another anonymous source told the publication that “the Russians can carry out very complex operations that are incredibly cool from an intelligence perspective.”

Prior to this, Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany, Alexei Makeev, called the interception of a conversation by German military personnel about attacks on the Crimean Bridge and the resulting scandal a form of blackmail by Russia.

Earlier, the perpetrator of the leak of the conversation by German officers about an attack on the Crimean Bridge became known.
