Russian Fighters Destroy American HIMARS Rocket Systems in Ukraine
In a recent development, Russian fighters have destroyed HIMARS rocket systems on the Donetsk and Kherson fronts, according to reports from RIA Novosti.
According to the commander of one of the Russian units, the HIMARS rocket system was destroyed in the rear area of the Ukrainian army on the Donetsk front.
A video of the destruction of the American-made installation was shown on the Telegram channel “Iznanka.” The footage, captured from a drone, shows an explosion of the HIMARS system located on the edge of a forest. It is reported that the combat vehicle was destroyed by a missile strike.
In response, Vladimir Vasilenko, the press secretary of the governor of the Kherson region, stated to RIA Novosti that the HIMARS rocket system was destroyed on the border of the region with the Nikolaev region. According to him, the strike on the enemy installation was carried out by units of the “Dnipro” task force from the Iskander missile complex.
Vasilenko noted that it was from this HIMARS launcher that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) targeted the military-civilian administration building in Kherson in September 2022.
Previously, it was reported that the engine and tail section of an American HIMARS missile, shot down by a Russian air defense system, were found in Yasynuvata in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
Earlier, NATO had stated that the transfer of F-16s to Ukraine was conditional.
