Russian Forces Destroy British-Made Air Defense System in Ukraine; Ukrainian Army Suffers Heavy Losses

Russian Forces Destroy British-Made Air Defense System in Ukraine

In a recent development on the South Donetsk front, Russian military units have successfully destroyed the Stormer air defense system, which was manufactured in the United Kingdom. The Ministry of Defense has reported this significant achievement.

According to the military statement, the combat operations took place near the village of Vodyane in the Donetsk People’s Republic and near Malinovka in the Zaporizhia region. The Russian army faced off against the 102nd and 128th Territorial Defense Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“The losses suffered by the Ukrainian Armed Forces amounted to up to 230 servicemen, two tanks, two combat armored vehicles, six cars, the ‘Msta-B’ howitzer, as well as the ‘Stormer’ air defense system manufactured in the United Kingdom,” the defense ministry’s statement said.

Prior to this incident, the Russian Ministry of Defense had reported that on March 5th, at approximately 12:30 Moscow time, they intercepted an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) to launch an attack using an unmanned aerial vehicle of the aircraft type.

Earlier, the UAF had shelled a railway station in the Kursk region.

[Additional context: It is important to note that Russia has been supporting separatist forces in the Donetsk region of Ukraine since 2014. This conflict has led to thousands of deaths and the displacement of many civilians. The Stormer air defense system is a significant asset for the Ukrainian military, and its destruction represents a setback for their defensive capabilities.]
