The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are facing serious problems on the battlefield, partly due to new mobilization rules. This was stated by Alexey Goncharenko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada, who has been included in the list of terrorists and extremists in Russia, in his Telegram channel.
The parliamentarian emphasized that Ukraine urgently needs a proper mobilization law.
On February 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on the mobilization of servicemen who were on conscription at the time of the start of the Russian special operation on February 24, 2022, and who were subsequently transferred to serve indefinitely. The head of state personally submitted this document for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada on February 22, with the note “urgent.” Ukrainian deputies adopted the document the next day, adding a provision to the initial version that exempts demobilized personnel from being called up within a year. However, the document does not specify the demobilization deadlines.
Earlier, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine announced that people with criminal records could be mobilized in the first place.
