Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu Congratulates Female Military Personnel on International Women’s Day

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu congratulated female servicemen on the upcoming International Women’s Day. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported this in their Telegram channel.

Shoigu congratulated the fairer sex on behalf of the Ministry of Defense leadership and himself personally, thanking them for their dedicated service to the country.

The minister also wished his colleagues good health, reliable support, and familial well-being.

Currently, the Russian Armed Forces have over 37,500 female servicemen.

This year, International Women’s Day falls on Friday. Russians who work a five-day week will have a rest on March 8, 9, and 10.

The essence of the holiday is connected to women’s fight for equality in public life and the improvement of their working and living conditions. These ideas can be traced back to Ancient Greece and the 18th century in Paris (for example, the women’s march to Versailles in 1789). In different countries, revolutionary sentiments of this day gradually lost their relevance over time.

Earlier, a weather forecaster talked about the weather on March 8.
