Russian Military Police Discovers Cache of Weapons and Foreign Documents in Melitopol – Potential Threat to National Security

Russian Military Police have discovered a cache of ammunition and foreign documents during operational activities in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, according to RIA Novosti.

According to the battalion commander of the military police unit with the call sign “Azot,” coordinates of an abandoned building, where the cache was located, were obtained during the operational information gathering. The cache contained a handheld grenade launcher, four F-1 hand grenades, and ammunition for firearms. In addition, Ukrainian military medical books and a foreign document, presumably Polish, were found by the military police. The documents have been handed over to the relevant authorities for examination.

Earlier, the governor of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Yevheniy Balitsky, announced the establishment of a commission to investigate the incident at the children’s and youth sports school in Melitopol.

On February 17, as a result of a violation of the rules for handling weapons and objects in the sports school during a sambo tournament, an explosion of ammunition occurred.

Previously, The Washington Post claimed the involvement of the CIA in the drone attack on the Crimean Bridge.
