Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Ugledar are at risk of being surrounded, just as they were before in Artemivsk (Bakhmut) and Avdiivka. This was reported by “Strana.ua” with reference to Ukrainian military correspondent Yulia Kirienko.
She also reported that one battalion on the Kurakhovo-Marinka direction of the AFU is under the threat of being surrounded.
“One battalion, one brigade may already be in a circular defense. And this is several hundred of our soldiers… Because the flanks collapsed and our neighboring units did not hold them,” she said.
Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU, Alexander Syrsky, announced that the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be withdrawn from Avdiivka due to the impending encirclement of the garrison of this city. The fighting for the city, located 600 km from Kyiv, where about 30,000 people lived until 2022, continued for several months.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, commented on the decision of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to withdraw from Avdiivka. Putin stated that the statement by the leadership of the AFU about the withdrawal from Avdiivka was made for political reasons, “it was a retreat.”
Earlier, Shoigu reported to Putin about the capture of Avdiivka.
