Representative of the operational-strategic group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Tavria”, Dmitry Likhovoy, has criticized an article by the American publication The New York Times as “propaganda” regarding the prisoners who surrendered to the Russian army in Avdiivka. The military’s words were reported by the TV channel “Rada.”
The NYT article in question notes that during the retreat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the semi-encircled town of Avdiivka, due to poor organization and communication, between 850 and 1000 Ukrainian servicemen could have fallen into Russian captivity.
“The sources they refer to are completely unreliable because there are no such people… Yes, we admit that there are prisoners, but their number is by no means in the hundreds… These statements by Russian propaganda regarding hundreds and thousands of Ukrainian prisoners are complete misinformation,” Likhovoy stated.
Earlier, it was stated in the United States that the surrender of Avdiivka could undermine the morale of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Previously, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that the Russian Federation has an advantage in the use of FPV drones.
