Russian Military Introduces Drones with Deceptive Electronic Warfare Capabilities
The Russian military has started using drones equipped with deceptive radio-electronic warfare (REW) capabilities, according to TASS. The commander of one of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) units, with the call sign “Omut,” revealed this information.
According to the commander, Russian drone operators have begun using quadcopters that constantly change their control frequency during flight, making it significantly more difficult for enemy REW systems to jam the UAV.
“The introduction of the PPRCH system – pseudo-random frequency reconfiguration. This means that during flight, the frequency at which the drone operates changes in real-time, jumping,” Omut explained.
The specialist also noted that the use of repeaters has increased the maximum range of drone operations to approximately 25 kilometers.
Prior to this development, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted to attack the Bryansk region using unmanned aerial vehicles of the aircraft type. The Ministry of Defense reported that three UAVs were shot down in the region’s airspace.
Later, military expert Alexey Leonkov stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will attempt to compensate for the shortage of ammunition by using cheap FPV drones extensively along the front lines.
Previously, the military expert stated that drones could employ a bombing tactic in the AOI.
