Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, has revealed that Russian troops quickly liberated Avdiivka, but only after a lengthy period of preparation. This information was reported by RIA Novosti.
“The main objective that was set has been accomplished, Avdiivka has been liberated. It must be said that it was liberated in a relatively short amount of time, but this was preceded by a long period of preparation,” explained Gerasimov.
Previously, the Chairman of the Parliament of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Artem Zhoga, stated that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation had cleared Avdiivka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
According to him, Russian military forces are already preparing for further offensive actions.
On February 17, the Russian Minister of Defense, Sergey Shoygu, reported to the President of the country, Vladimir Putin, about the capture of Avdiivka.
Furthermore, Russian military forces discovered captured Western weapons at the location of a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Avdiivka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Earlier, the United States and Ukraine commenced negotiations on security guarantees for Kyiv.
