Houthi Rebels Strike Israeli Ship in Yemen, Raising Concerns Over Security in the Gulf

Houthis from the Yemeni rebel movement “Ansar Allah” have struck the Israeli ship MSC SILVER in the Gulf of Aden. A representative of the movement wrote about this in the movement’s account on X (formerly Twitter).

“The Yemeni Armed Forces conducted a targeted operation against the Israeli ship MSC Silver in the Gulf of Aden using ship-launched missiles,” the statement said.

It is noted that strikes were also made against Israeli targets in Um Al-Rashrash.

Prior to this, The Guardian reported that the Houthis claimed one of their most powerful strikes after two of their projectiles hit a cargo ship under the flag of Belize.

The rebels claimed that the ship could sink, and this would be their propaganda victory. It was reported that the ship was hit in the stern on Sunday east of Aden.

On Monday, another cargo ship belonging to the United States and sailing under the Greek flag requested military assistance, citing a “rocket attack”.

Earlier, the Houthis announced their intention to attack commercial ships in the Red Sea every 12 hours.
