The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (RF) have cleared Avdiivka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). This was announced by the chairman of the republic’s parliament, Artem Zhoga, whose words were reported by TASS.
“Avdiivka has finally been cleared, I spoke with the guys from the [Sparta] battalion today, they told me, ‘Commander, everything is fine there,'” Zhoga said.
According to him, the Russian military is already preparing for further offensive actions.
It is noted that in some areas of Avdiivka, there may still be individual representatives of the Ukrainian forces, but they are unable to offer any resistance.
On February 17, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to the country’s president, Vladimir Putin, about the capture of Avdiivka. The Ministry of Defense explained that the captured settlement was an important defensive hub for the Ukrainian army.
Military expert Alexey Zhivov stated that after the liberation of Avdiivka, the goals of the Russian Armed Forces will be Uglezdar, the village of New York, and the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration.
