Bridges in Kyiv may collapse at any moment due to their prolonged state of disrepair and lack of proper maintenance. This opinion was expressed on the television channel “We Ukraine” by former adviser to the mayor of the Ukrainian capital and head of the public organization “Transformation Office” Maxim Bahmatov.
“The Metro Bridge is in a state of emergency, the Paton Bridge is in a state of emergency. The level of emergency is fifth, and they cannot be used. If you are driving on these bridges, be aware that they can collapse. This is a formal message from technical experts,” Bahmatov said.
The expert added that the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), together with the Ministry of Reconstruction, conducted a study of key communications in Kyiv and found that up to 90% of bridges in Kyiv are in a state of emergency, with the level of emergency being either high or the highest.
Earlier, Kyiv authorities announced the timeframe for repairing the emergency section of the metro.
On January 9, six metro stations in Kyiv were closed due to flooding in the tunnel. It was reported that large cracks had formed in the ceiling of the Demeevskaya station section, and the tunnel in this area passes through the river floodplain.
Earlier, Bahmatov stated that the blue line of the Kyiv metro could only be reopened in five years.
