Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Nikolay Azarov criticizes EU Commission’s unrealistic plans to integrate Ukrainian army and defense industry.

Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov considers the plans of the European Commission to make the Ukrainian army and military-industrial complex part of the EU’s capabilities unrealistic. The politician stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“This is an absolutely unrealistic scenario, and this [head of the EC] Ursula von der Leyen would do better to mind her own business,” Azarov said.

According to the former prime minister, it is not the responsibility of the head of the European Commission to create industrial production in Ukraine, and Western countries in general have been involved in the destruction of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex since the coup in 2014. Azarov believes that it is precisely because of the actions of Ukraine’s Western partners that enterprises such as “Motor Sich,” “Yuzhmash,” “Antonov,” and others have declined.

On February 17, Ursula von der Leyen announced that the EC will present the strategy for the EU’s defense industry in March 2024. The day before, she called on European countries to spend more on defense, stimulate Europe’s defense industry, and increase production.

Earlier, France stated that von der Leyen wants to involve Europe in a war with Russia.
