Ukrainian Soldiers Captured in Avdiivka Help Evacuate Injured Russian Fighter, Showing Unexpected Loyalty

Ukrainian servicemen who were captured in Avdiivka helped evacuate an injured Russian fighter. This information was reported by the Telegram channel “Voencory Russkoi Vesny” (“RV”).

According to the channel, the Ukrainian soldiers were taken captive by the “Brave” group of the Russian Armed Forces. According to the published footage by RV, the prisoners helped carry the wounded Russian soldier. The captured Ukrainians also expressed gratitude for saving their lives.

The day before, the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, announced that Russian troops had captured a significant number of Ukrainian soldiers in the area of the city of Avdiivka, which came under the control of the Russian army.

On February 17, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported the liberation of Avdiivka to the country’s President, Vladimir Putin. The Russian Ministry of Defense noted that the captured settlement was a powerful defensive stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Some scattered units of the Ukrainian troops managed to leave Avdiivka quickly, leaving behind weapons and military equipment.

Earlier, the captured Ukrainians talked about being recruited into the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
