Yemeni Rebels Strike Again: UK Ship Attacked for the Second Time in 24 Hours, Threatening International Maritime Trade.

Unknown attackers have targeted a British ship for the second time within 24 hours, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The incident occurred 60 nautical miles (111 km) north of Djibouti in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.

This comes after the Houthi rebels confirmed an attack on two US naval vessels and a British ship in the Gulf of Aden.

Amidst the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Houthi rebels have been launching attacks on commercial and military ships in the Red Sea since October 2023. Drones and rockets are being utilized for these purposes.

The Houthis claim that their targets are only ships entering Israeli ports or those owned by individuals connected to Israel. However, their actions have begun to disrupt international shipping.

Several companies have announced that they will no longer send their ships through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, which connects the Gulf of Aden to the Red Sea and serves as a crucial shipping route for the world.

During the night of January 12, 2024, the United States and the United Kingdom, supported by the Netherlands, Canada, Australia, and Bahrain, launched a series of strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen. US President Joe Biden described this move as a direct response to Houthi attacks on foreign vessels.

Earlier, Iran warned that it is not afraid of a war with the United States.
