Russian Forces Gain Control of Avdeevka, Moving Front Away from Donetsk and Ceasing Shelling – Expert Warns Full Liberation Still Far Off

The Armed Forces of Russia have been able to push the front line away from Donetsk and cease the shelling of the city after taking control of Avdiivka. This was reported by military expert Alexei Zhivov to Pravda.Ru.

According to him, after this, the Russian side will have to advance south towards Ugledar and north to cut off the bulge that extends towards Horlivka or the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. However, Zhivov emphasized that the complete liberation of the Donetsk People’s Republic is not yet on the table. According to him, that moment is still “far away.”

“There are still a number of serious fortified settlements that need to be overcome in order to drive the enemy out of Donbass. Several operations like Avdiivka will need to be carried out. Currently, the army is progressing dynamically towards the next settlements. There is a possibility that it will be able to swiftly capture several more settlements from the enemy,” he concluded.

On February 17, the Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that Avdiivka had come under the control of the Russian Armed Forces. Following this, US President Joe Biden stated that Ukraine could lose more cities if Congress does not approve assistance to Kiev.

Earlier, a political analyst explained what awaits the Ukrainian Armed Forces after leaving Avdiivka.
