In Avdiivka, which has come under the control of Russian forces, there may still be groups of Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) that have been abandoned by their command. This was stated by a captured commander of the “Azov” company (an organization banned in Russia) from the 3rd Assault Brigade of the UAF, whose words were reported by the Telegram channel WarGonzo, belonging to the war correspondent Semyon Pegov.
The Ukrainian military suggested that there could still be Ukrainian soldiers in the city who are unaware that Avdiivka has been abandoned.
According to the company commander, he was ordered to hold positions so that the main mass of UAF fighters could leave the city. They were promised an evacuation vehicle, but in the end, the command stopped communicating.
It was reported that Ukrainian fighters do not trust the new Commander-in-Chief of the UAF, Oleksandr Syrskyi, after the surrender of Avdiivka to the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
Previously, Syrskyi announced the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Avdiivka and “transitioning to defense on more advantageous frontlines.”
Earlier, an American analyst predicted the imminent failure of the UAF.
