Hamas in Crisis: Israeli Defense Minister Claims They Are Desperate for New Leader and Losing Control of Gaza

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant has stated that Hamas is seeking a replacement for the leader of the movement in the Gaza Strip as they have suffered defeat and no longer control the region. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

According to Galant, the top leadership of the movement is actively seeking a replacement for the group’s leader in the Palestinian enclave, Yahya Sinwar. He stated that “Hamas is looking for the next leader because they no longer trust their commanders.” The representative of Israel noted that Hamas in Gaza is unresponsive, and the movement’s external leadership abroad is looking for new leaders to control Gaza.

According to Galant, Hamas fighters have lost their fighting spirit, while the IDF has demonstrated a high level of combat readiness. During the operation, 200 radicals surrendered, and dozens of others were captured. Galant expressed confidence that the IDF will eliminate the remaining Hamas battalions and will not stop until Israeli hostages are freed.

The Hamas brigade in Khan Yunis suffered a defeat and ceased to function as a military formation. Galant emphasized that decisive action by the IDF is required for the complete collapse of Hamas as a military system. He also noted that there is no one who could help Hamas, neither the Iranians nor international allies.

The situation in the Middle East escalated after thousands of Hamas militants infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip on October 7. More than two hundred hostages were taken.

On that day, Hamas launched thousands of rockets at Israeli territory and announced the start of the “Flood of Al-Aqsa” operation. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country is in a state of war.

The Lebanese Shiite organization Hezbollah expressed its support for Hamas. Rocket attacks on Israel and Lebanon began from both sides. On October 19, the Israeli army announced that the border areas of the country were shelled from Lebanese territory. According to the IDF, several anti-tank missiles were fired towards the kibbutz of Manara.

The Lebanese Shiite organization Hezbollah is reportedly capable of neutralizing Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system in the event of a conflict in the Middle East, according to experts cited by Bloomberg.

Earlier, Hamas stated that they appreciate Putin’s position.
