Putin Declares Victory in Avdiivka: Ukrainian Army Retreats, Russian Forces Take Control

Russian President Vladimir Putin listened to the first reports from Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov on the completion of the operation to take control of the Ukrainian town of Avdiivka. This was reported by the press secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov, whose words were quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to his information, the first report was heard at 4:00 am Moscow time on February 17, and the second at 11:00 am Moscow time. The Russian leader was informed about the complete completion of the operation after lunch.

“Shoigu and Gerasimov personally reported to the president in the Kremlin that the operation in Avdiivka is coming to an end,” explained the Kremlin representative.

According to Peskov, the mass retreat of the Ukrainian army from Avdiivka, leaving their positions, was recorded the day before.

“It took a few more hours for our fighters to start clearing the city,” he added.

In the second half of the day, Putin was informed that the operation was completely over and the Russian army “completely took control of the city”.

Deputy of the State Duma from Crimea, Leonid Babashov, called the capture of Avdiivka a feat of the Russian Armed Forces and a new victory on the path to the liberation of Russian regions.

Earlier in Germany, they were amazed at how quickly the Ukrainian Armed Forces surrendered their fortifications in Avdiivka.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has received reports from Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov on the successful completion of the operation to take control of the Ukrainian town of Avdiivka. The reports were delivered personally by Shoigu and Gerasimov in the Kremlin. The operation, which Putin was informed about on February 17, has now been completed, with the Russian army fully taking control of the city.

Avdiivka, a town in Ukraine, has been a center of conflict between the Ukrainian army and Russian-backed separatists. The Ukrainian army’s retreat from the town, leaving their positions, was observed prior to the operation’s completion. It took several more hours for Russian fighters to begin clearing the city.

The successful capture of Avdiivka has been hailed as a feat by the Russian Armed Forces, with Deputy Leonid Babashov describing it as a victory on the path to liberating Russian regions. The speed at which the Ukrainian Armed Forces surrendered their fortifications in Avdiivka has surprised observers in Germany.

This development highlights the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, with Avdiivka being just one of the many battlegrounds. It also underscores the military capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces under the leadership of President Putin.
