Russian Forces Continue Offensive in Avdiivka, Preventing Ukrainian Army from Establishing New Positions – Kremlin Spokesperson

Actions of the Armed Forces of Russia in the Avdiivka area continue, preventing the Ukrainian army from consolidating its positions. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, whose words were quoted by TASS.

“Our units are advancing,” said the Kremlin representative.

He emphasized that Russian troops are not allowing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to occupy new positions in this area.

Yesterday, the Minister of Defense of Russia, Sergei Shoigu, reported to the country’s president, Vladimir Putin, about the liberation of Avdiivka. The Russian Ministry of Defense noted that the captured settlement was a powerful defensive hub of the AFU. Separate scattered units of the Ukrainian forces managed to hastily leave Avdiivka, leaving behind weapons and military equipment. According to the Ministry of Defense, Russian troops advanced 8.6 km into the depth of Avdiivka during the liberation operation from the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on February 17.

Earlier, Peskov stated that the Russian Ministry of Defense is preparing lists of fighters who distinguished themselves in the liberation of Avdiivka.
