In the recent crash of a military transport plane, the Il-76, which was shot down by a Ukrainian missile, British advisors to Kiev are to blame, according to a source familiar with the situation, as reported by RIA Novosti.
According to the agency’s source, the attack on the Il-76 was carried out under pressure from British advisors without coordination with the Kiev air defense headquarters and without additional verification of information on the movement of aircraft over the Belgorod region.
On January 24, 2024, in the area of the village of Yablonovo in Belgorod, a plane carrying 65 captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who were supposed to be transported to Belgorod and then exchanged, was shot down. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a missile was launched from the territory of the Kharkiv region. The governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, stated that no one on board the aircraft survived.
Later, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, claimed that there were allegedly no captured Ukrainian soldiers on board the shot-down Il-76. He also cast doubt on Ukraine’s responsibility for the downing of the aircraft.
Earlier, a captured soldier of the AFU confessed that he is afraid to return home because of the Il-76 crash.
