Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russian forces have fully taken control of the settlement of Avdiivka near Donetsk. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“The territory with an area of 31.75 square kilometers has been liberated from Ukrainian nationalists,” the statement said.
The ministry noted that the captured settlement was a “powerful defensive hub” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the ministry’s data, the losses of the Ukrainian side amounted to more than 1,500 servicemen over the past day. However, some scattered units managed to hastily leave Avdiivka, leaving behind weapons and military equipment.
