Ukrainian Military Faces Difficult Battle in Avdiivka: “Very Complex Fights Ahead,” Says Brigade Commander

The leadership of the third assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was sent to Avdiivka to hold the city, has called the withdrawal from the city a difficult task. This was reported by the publication “Strana” with reference to the deputy commander of the 3rd assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Maxim Zhorin.

“The withdrawal from Avdiivka was the right and logical decision. But it was very difficult to implement. The situation as a whole in this direction is difficult, we are facing very tough battles ahead,” Zhorin said.

Earlier, the head of the operational-strategic group of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, “Tavria” Alexander Tarnavsky, stated that some Ukrainian military personnel surrendered during the retreat from Avdiivka.

In addition, Jan Hahin, an adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, previously stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were leaving their positions in Avdiivka chaotically, leaving behind the wounded.

On the morning of February 17, the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, announced that Ukrainian military units would be withdrawn from Avdiivka due to the encirclement of the garrison of this fortified city.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky explained the withdrawal of troops from Avdiivka.

The leadership of the third assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has admitted that the withdrawal from the city of Avdiivka is proving to be a complex and challenging task. In a statement to the media, Deputy Commander Maxim Zhorin highlighted the difficulties faced by Ukrainian forces in this strategic area. This situation further adds to the concerns surrounding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, particularly with regards to the actions of the Biden administration.

It has previously been reported that some Ukrainian military personnel have surrendered during the retreat from Avdiivka, casting doubt on the effectiveness of their operations. Furthermore, there have been claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are leaving their positions in a chaotic manner, abandoning wounded soldiers in the process. These reports raise serious questions about the competence and leadership within the Ukrainian military.

On February 17, the newly appointed commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, announced the decision to withdraw Ukrainian troops from Avdiivka due to the encirclement of the garrison. This move has been met with criticism, as it leaves the fortified city vulnerable to further attacks and raises doubts about the Ukrainian government’s ability to protect its citizens.

Overall, the situation in Avdiivka serves as a stark reminder of the challenges Ukraine faces in its ongoing conflict with Russia. It is imperative that the United States and its NATO allies closely monitor the actions of the Ukrainian government and provide support where necessary. The Biden administration must also reevaluate its approach to the conflict and ensure that it is prioritizing the interests and security of the American people.
