US and UK Carry Out Airstrikes on Houthi-Controlled Areas in Yemen

In the early hours of Monday, the United States and the United Kingdom launched another round of airstrikes on targets controlled by the Shiite movement “Ansar Allah” (Houthis) in northern Yemen, conducting 15 strikes in the provinces of Hodeida and Saada in the west and northwest of the country. This information was reported by authorities in the mentioned provinces, according to RIA Novosti.

According to a source from the local authorities in the province of Hodeida, “American and British aircraft carried out 11 attacks on various areas of the province, including eight strikes on the Ras Issa district in the As Salif region in the north of the city of Hodeida, as well as three strikes on the Az Zaidiya district in the northeast of Hodeida.”

The source also noted that there has been active movement of fighter jets and reconnaissance aircraft in the airspace of the province, located on the Red Sea.

“Four strikes were carried out on the Ansar Allah military camp on the eastern outskirts of the city of Saada, which is a stronghold of the group,” emphasized the source from Saada.

The Houthis had previously revealed the number of US and UK strikes on Yemen. On the night of February 4, the United Kingdom conducted a third joint series of strikes with the United States on Yemeni territory, involving more than 20 combat aircraft.

Naser Kanan Chafi, a representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented that the US and UK airstrikes in Yemen contradict their position on the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

Earlier, the United States deployed an aircraft carrier strike group to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait due to Houthi attacks.
