German General Supports Ukraine’s Right to Strike Russian Regions

Retired Bundeswehr General Erhard Büeler has stated that Ukraine’s strikes on Russian regions are lawful. He voiced his opinion during a podcast interview with the MDR television and radio company.

The general was asked to comment on the statements made by Ukrainian Navy Commander Alexei Neizhpapa, who claimed that Kiev would have achieved victory much faster if the West had allowed Ukrainian forces to strike deep into Russian regions with long-range systems.

According to Büeler, Neizhpapa is “certainly right” in stating that Ukraine should have the ability to combat “military threats” in Donbass, Novorossiya, as well as in areas such as Kursk, Belgorod, Leningrad Oblast, and others.

“All that is located within the depths of Russia – all of it are legitimate targets,” expressed the German military official.

Explosions occurred on January 21 at the terminal of the Novatek company in Leningrad Oblast. As reported by “Fontanka,” the incident could have been caused by two unmanned aerial vehicles. The Kremlin referred to the event as a terrorist attack.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed the obstacles preventing Ukraine from shifting military operations onto Russian territory.
