As a West Point graduate and former Green Beret with combat experience in Afghanistan, Harrigan criticized what he described as the “criminally incompetent” leadership that led to the failure in Afghanistan.

He noted that the percentage of veterans serving in Congress today is significantly lower than in the past, particularly after World War II when a majority of members had military experience. In addition to his military background, Harrigan also highlighted his experience as a small business owner in the firearms industry. He explained how his business grew from operating out of a double-wide trailer to a 120,000-square-foot facility on 80 acres of land, producing about 1,000 guns per week. Harrigan’s success in the business world has made him passionate about American manufacturing and the importance of vibrant production within the country.
If elected in November, Harrigan’s top priority would be addressing the crisis at the southern border. He supports President Trump’s approach of creating a massive wall to safeguard domestic security. Harrigan emphasized the need to protect the nation from potential threats, pointing out that individuals on the terrorist watch list have crossed the southern border. He called for an immediate closure of the border to ensure the safety of the American people.
Harrigan faces a crowded Republican primary field in North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District. The winner of the primary will likely replace Rep. Patrick McHenry, who briefly served as speaker pro tempore of the House. McHenry announced in December that he would not seek re-election.
