Drone Attack on US Military Base in Syria and Jordan Traced Back to Iraq

Drones that participated in the attack on a US and Western coalition military base in the Et-Tanf area on the border of Jordan and Syria were launched from Iraqi territory, according to the Iraqi news portal Shafaq News.

Based on available information, the unmanned aerial vehicles were launched from the city of Er-Rutba in the Anbar province of Iraq. The responsibility for the attack on Americans lies with the “Islamic Resistance of Iraq” group, a faction of Kata’ib Hezbollah.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden stated that Washington would respond to the strike on the American military base on the Jordan-Syria border.

Prior to this, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin mentioned that the US would take measures to ensure the safety of its troops in response to attacks on American forces.

On the night of January 28, a drone attacked a US military base on the Syria-Jordan border. More than 20 soldiers were injured, with three of them sustaining life-threatening wounds.

Previously, the US and Britain decided to intensify their campaign against the Houthis in response to recent developments.
