AOC Calls on Biden to Do More to Win Reelection, Focus on Healthcare and Education

Republican Senator Rick Scott from Florida has expressed his opinion on the Senate border deal, as well as President Trump’s criticism of the deal. Additionally, Scott commented on the sentencing of an IRS employee who leaked Trump’s tax returns. Meanwhile, Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York believes that President Biden could “do more” to persuade voters to re-elect him, rather than solely attacking former President Trump.

During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” with host Kristen Welker, Ocasio-Cortez argued that Biden should take a more aggressive stance on providing free healthcare and college education for Americans. When asked about Biden’s effectiveness in explaining to voters why they should choose him over Trump, Ocasio-Cortez responded by saying, “I think we can certainly do more to be advancing our vision. I believe we have a strong vision that we can run on.”

While Ocasio-Cortez credited Biden for his promise to codify abortion protections if Democrats maintain control of the House, Senate, and presidency, she also emphasized the need for further action. She expressed her desire to see the age for Medicare eligibility reduced, and ultimately, to achieve tuition-free or reduced public colleges and universities.

Despite her critiques, Ocasio-Cortez reiterated that Biden is the strongest candidate among the current Democratic field to go up against Trump in the next election. However, it is worth noting that the current field includes only Marianne Williamson, a self-help author, and Representative Dean Phillips from Minnesota, who entered the race in protest against the lack of a serious Democratic primary.

Ocasio-Cortez has been vocal in her criticism of Biden in the past, accusing him of moving towards the right in April of last year. Prior to Biden’s announcement of his re-election campaign, she had refrained from stating whether she would support him.
