Pentagon Cancels Joint Military Exercises with Controversial Nations, Facing Congressional Criticism

The Pentagon has unexpectedly decided to cancel its plans for joint military exercises with several countries, some of which are either involved in the overthrow of democratic governments or accused of human rights violations, amidst recent scrutiny. This move comes in response to criticism from Congress, as reported by The Washington Post (WP).

According to the publication, the Pentagon has changed its course due to the recent intense attention it has received. However, it remains unclear whether the Pentagon will also withdraw its plans for joint exercises with other countries that have experienced military coups or whose achievements contradict President Joe Biden’s commitment to promoting human rights and democratic ideals.

Prior to this, the Chinese newspaper Global Times reported that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is conducting its largest military exercises in a decade due to the failures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) on the battlefield.

Earlier reports indicated that the United States and South Korea have been practicing a preemptive nuclear strike against North Korea.
