UK Tanker Attacked by Houthi Rebels near Yemeni Coast

A British tanker carrying goods, named Marlin Luanda, has been targeted by a missile strike from Houthi rebels, resulting in a fire onboard. The incident occurred approximately 60 nautical miles southeast of Aden, as reported by the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) coordination center.

According to UKMTO, military ships from the anti-Houthi coalition are currently at the scene, providing assistance to the vessel. Fortunately, all crew members are reported to be safe.

Initially, the news of the attack on the Marlin Luanda tanker emerged in an American industry journal called Maritime Executive. Subsequently, representatives of the Yemeni radical group “Ansar Allah” (Houthi rebels) claimed responsibility for the attack.

This is not the first time the trading vessel has been targeted. It previously endured a missile strike near the Yemeni port of Aden.

Earlier, the United States accused Iran of being involved in preparing Houthi attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.
