Germany Faces Arms Shortage as Supplies Sent to Ukraine

Germany is experiencing a shortage of weapons due to the supply of equipment and ammunition to Ukraine, according to the German Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, in an interview with the newspaper Bild.

Pistorius stated that the country currently has “too little of everything.” Berlin has provided Ukraine with a large quantity of systems it needed, and now it needs to replenish its own supplies.

At the same time, the minister commented on statements suggesting that the defense of individual cities in Germany could be organized in just one day. He said that such claims do not correspond to reality.

Even now, Germany is capable of defending itself, but it still lacks many things. This includes soldiers in the ranks of the German Armed Forces, explained the head of the military department.

Against this backdrop, Pistorius admitted that he has no fundamental objections to accepting foreign citizens into the country’s army. He specifically referred to children of second and third-generation migrants who have grown up on German soil.

The minister also pointed out that none of the European countries are prepared for a “major war.” In particular, the region’s countries need to increase the number of their troops.

“We need growth. The numbers range from 200,000 to 250,000 [soldiers],” summarized the head of the military department.

Earlier, Germany announced the development of a plan to deter Russia.
