Georgia police have apprehended a man wanted in Pennsylvania after he fired multiple gunshots at a driver who rear-ended him at a red light. The incident, which occurred over the weekend at the intersection of Shallowford Road and Dresden Drive, was captured on doorbell video and later released by the Chamblee Police Department.
The footage shows an SUV approaching a smaller car that had stopped at a red light. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver of the smaller car abruptly hit the brakes. However, the SUV still made contact with the car at a low speed. The driver of the smaller car, later identified as Alex Bane, then exited his vehicle and approached the SUV.
As Bane approached, the SUV’s driver began to reverse quickly while Bane yelled for them not to leave. While out of the video frame, audio captured the sound of 12 gunshots being fired towards the SUV. Fortunately, the driver was not injured, but the vehicle sustained damage from the gunfire.
After firing the shots, Bane quickly returned to his car and fled the scene. Chamblee police used the Flock License Plate Reader system to identify the car’s tag number and conducted a six-hour surveillance operation to locate Bane. He was eventually found and arrested at a Quality Inn on Tuesday.
Upon his arrest, Bane was found in possession of a fake Pennsylvania driver’s license, leading to additional charges of second-degree forgery. He is also facing charges of aggravated assault with a weapon, first-degree criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Bane is currently awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
This incident highlights the dangers of road rage and serves as a reminder for drivers to exercise caution and restraint in such situations. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their efforts to ensure the safety of the public and hold individuals accountable for their actions.
