Scott traveled to New Hampshire to publicly support Trump, who is currently the frontrunner in the Republican race for the third consecutive White House run. He returned to New Hampshire for additional campaigning and expressed his enthusiasm for Trump’s presidency, stating, “In my opinion, the faster we coalesce around Donald Trump, the better the country will be.”
While rumors of Scott potentially serving as Trump’s running mate have circulated, the senator emphasized that it is not currently a consideration for him. His focus remains on ensuring Trump’s victory and addressing pressing issues such as inflation, gas prices, food costs, and maintaining law and order in the country.
Although Scott dropped out of the presidential race two months ago, sources close to him suggest that he may still be in the running for the vice presidential nomination if Trump secures the nomination. Scott himself did not rule out another run for the White House, stating, “You know, ’28’s not that far away. We’ll see what happens by making sure that we’re successful in ’24.”
In regards to his Senate career, Scott previously stated that his 2022 re-election campaign would be his last. However, he revealed that he has been receiving requests from South Carolinians to reconsider and run again. He expressed openness to listening to his voters and considering another Senate campaign.
