House Oversight Committee to Hold Closed-Door Interview with Hunter Biden’s Business Associate in Ongoing Probe

House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., joins “Hannity” to discuss the ongoing probe into President Biden’s alleged connection to Hunter Biden’s business dealings. Hunter Biden’s business associate involved in his dealings with Chinese energy company CEFC is expected to appear for a closed-door transcribed interview Thursday morning before the House Oversight and Judiciary committees.

Mervyn Yan, who worked with the first son on deals with Chinese energy company CEFC, was subpoenaed last November to appear as part of the House impeachment inquiry against President Biden. He is expected to appear at 10 a.m. on Capitol Hill.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer and Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan notified Yan of his subpoena and explained the reason for compelling his appearance. They cited alleged financial ties between President Biden, Hunter Biden, and individuals involved in business deals with China.

The investigation stems from a “money trail” that began in July 2017, when Hunter Biden demanded a $10 million payment from a CEFC associate. In a WhatsApp message, Hunter Biden allegedly threatened the associate, stating that he and his father would retaliate if the money was not paid. The funds were later transferred to Hunter Biden’s joint-venture with CEFC, called SinoHawk Holdings.

Bank records obtained by the Oversight Committee revealed that $5 million from the joint-venture was sent to Hudson West III, another entity controlled by Hunter Biden and a CEFC associate. From there, $400,000 was sent to Owasco PC, a separate entity owned by Hunter Biden. The records also showed that $150,000 was wired to Lion Hall Group, a company owned by James Biden and his wife.

While President Biden has denied being involved in his son’s business dealings, text messages obtained in 2020 revealed that he had met with Hunter’s business associates. The investigation aims to determine if President Biden took any official action or made changes in government policy due to financial benefits received by his family.

Yan’s transcribed interview is expected to provide insight into how James and Hunter Biden conducted their business and structured their financial transactions. It may also shed light on President Biden’s involvement in his family’s business dealings.

The interview with Yan comes ahead of testimonies from other key figures, including Hunter Biden’s business associate Rob Walker and Hunter Biden himself. Hunter Biden had previously defied a subpoena to appear for a deposition, but an agreement has been reached for him to testify behind closed doors on February 28.

The investigation into Hunter Biden’s business dealings remains a contentious topic, with Republicans emphasizing the need for transparency and Democrats defending the president and his family. The House Oversight Committee’s ongoing probe seeks to uncover the truth behind these allegations and determine any potential conflicts of interest.
