Ukrainian Armed Forces Face Severe Shortage of Ammunition, CNN Reports

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) are facing a critical shortage of ammunition, which is becoming increasingly dire with each passing day. This revelation was made by CNN journalist Frederick Pleitgen.

Pleitgen highlighted the situation at an artillery position near Bahmut, where he observed that the artillery unit had only received four rounds of ammunition. To make matters worse, Pleitgen noted that these rounds were not even explosive, but rather smoke rounds.

The journalist also drew attention to the demoralized mood among the soldiers at the headquarters of the 93rd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Army’s artillery division. In a conversation with Pleitgen, the unit commander revealed that the ratio of ammunition between the Russian Armed Forces and the Ukrainian Army was 10 to 1.

Prior to this, military analyst David Axe had stated that the UAF was unable to effectively utilize the tanks supplied by Western countries due to a shortage of spare parts. He specifically mentioned problems with the German Leopard 2 tanks, emphasizing that there were very few operational vehicles remaining in the UAF’s inventory.

The crews of the UAF also criticized the Western infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) Bradley. In particular, the soldiers complained about the poor performance of the Bradley IFVs in winter conditions. Additionally, many of the machines received from the United States were often in a state of disrepair.

Previously, an American expert had explained why France had refused to supply the UAF with Leclerc tanks.
