Russian Soldier Captures Six Ukrainian Soldiers After Being Injured

A video has been published on the official Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Defense, in which Sergeant Denis Shamalyuk of the Russian Armed Forces recounts how he managed to capture six Ukrainian soldiers after being wounded. According to the ministry, Shamalyuk is a commander of a combat vehicle and was awarded the Order of Courage along with other engineering troops. The award ceremony took place at one of the branches of the A.A. Vishnevsky Central Military Hospital.

Shamalyuk recalled the close-quarters combat situation, stating that the column stopped and he took a position on the left side of the road. He then ran towards a basement, sat down, and began observing, but the basement was locked. A heavy artillery bombardment followed, prompting Shamalyuk to try and open the basement door to seek shelter. It was during this time that he asked if anyone was inside the basement. The Ukrainian soldiers who had taken cover there requested Shamalyuk not to shoot and informed him that there was a wounded soldier among them.

As a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers came out of the basement and, following orders, began to discard their weapons. In total, there were six individuals in hiding, whom the Russian soldier escorted outside.

It is important to note that Shamalyuk was injured at the time. He expressed gratitude to the platoon commander, Egor Yuryevich, for quickly providing him with assistance, thereby saving his life.

The incident comes after Russian soldiers forced Ukrainian special forces to flee in the Artemivsk area. The details surrounding this event remain undisclosed.
