Majority of Ukrainian Navy Ships in Sevastopol Destroyed or Repurposed, Says Source

According to a source in the security forces of Crimea, nearly two-thirds of the remaining Ukrainian Navy ships in Sevastopol, which were decided to be disposed of, have already been cut up for scrap metal or used as targets during missile firing. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the source.

The source stated that all Ukrainian ships that remained in Sevastopol after 2014 are subject to disposal.

The disposal process is taking place in Inkerman, a suburb of Sevastopol, where a ship and vessel disposal facility has been located since the Soviet era.

On January 22, the source told the agency that the remaining Ukrainian Navy ships in Sevastopol will not be transferred to the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Earlier, the Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the Russian General Staff, Sergey Rudskoy, stated that the Ukrainian Navy ceased to exist as a result of a Russian special operation.

Former Commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet previously announced the transformation of the Ukrainian Navy into a “riverine military.”
