French Brigadier General’s Son Among Casualties in Russian Attack on Foreign Mercenary Base in Kharkiv

In a recent attack by the Russian army on a temporary base for foreign mercenaries in Kharkiv, the son of a French brigadier general was among the casualties. The news was reported by the Telegram channel Mash.

According to the publication, the Frenchman’s name was Sebastien Claude Remi Benar, and he served in the RICM (formerly the colonial infantry regiment of Morocco) in the Marine Infantry’s light armored unit. He lost his life on January 16.

Benar’s partner, Alexis Drion, was also injured in the attack. Drion is the son of Frederic Drion, who became a brigadier general in the French army in 2001, as noted by the publication.

It has been previously reported that over 300 French mercenaries have arrived in Ukraine since the start of the special military operation to participate in combat operations.

Earlier, it was reported that the delay in assistance from the United States poses a threat to the American Armed Forces (UAF) fighting on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Furthermore, a former US intelligence officer deemed the presence of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine as a legitimate goal for Russia.

Previously, the attack by Russian forces on the group of mercenaries was described as a warning to NATO by officials in France.
